I’m under the firm belief that there should be more than a single choice in having an Internet Service Provider. Unfortunately in most cases you’re only going to find 1 ISP which, in most cases, ends up being Comcast, Time Warner or Verizon. I count myself as one of the lucky few who lives in Colorado because here we can get Colorado Centurylink. I’ve found Centurylink to be one of higher quality Internet Service Providers. When I was in school in Louisville, Kentucky they had a pretty righteous ISP, Insight Communications, but they were bought out by Time Warner – an awful experience to say the least.
I can’t even count the number of times that I had to call the billing department because they would charge me double! Twice as much as I should have been paying. Each time they would assure me that they fixed the problem but unfortunately they didn’t – every. Single. Time. It’s ridiculous that anyone should have to go through that! I just wanted to enjoy my Internet without all the hassle, something that Centurylink has finally been able to give me. If only they were in other markets, I would totally encourage all of my friends to sign up with them.
Hopefully the rules that the FCC have voted on will change the playing field and open up the market for more ISPs. It’s been far too long that these companies have been allowed to throttle their markets by denying the competition from establishing themselves. At least the FCC is willing to work with us. Despite how much we have expressed our displeasure with the major ISPs, they do nothing. They betray us again and again. Apparently they don’t even listen to us – if they did, the FCC wouldn’t have had to vote as they did.
